Asus Zenfone Max entered the mobile market with much hype for its commendable long battery life. Asus has announced the new edition to its Zenfone Max on 23rd May 2016. It is touted to have the longest battery life for up to 3 days once fully charged! Yes, you heard me right! Zenfone Max is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 2 GB ram variant and Rs 12,999 for 3 GB. Asus has maxed everything in their newly launched phone be it the battery life, the processor or the storage capacity which pretty much justifies it being named Zenfone Max. Lets find more about the device.
Highlights of Zenfone Max-
Uncompromising battery life, OTG cable which turns phone into charger
Strong build and leather crafted design with amazing color options, chick n stylish
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1
1.5 Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, available in 16 and 32 GB and expandable up to 64 GB
Design and Build
Beginning with the looks, nothing much has changed as compared to the previous Zenfone Max, as the looks are exactly the same. The rear camera and the placement of the side keys for volume and power are still same i.e. on the right edge of the phone. The back of the Zenfone Max is made of leather so it has got a good grip when you hold the phone and looks strong. As compared to other Zenfone models, this one has a more strong build but rest is same. It has a HD display of 5.5 inch and resolution of 1280x720p. The Zenfone Max screen has oleophobic coating , makes the screen fingerprint and smudge-resistant. The icons appear big, clear and sharp.
I liked the colors of Zenfone Max, it is available in bright orange, aqua blue, white and the all-time classic black color. The colors have a nice summer-ish feel, the orange and the blue ones will surely brighten up your outfit! I think I am going to style this as my accessory too.
Once the phone is charged fully, there is no need to put it on charging for the next 3 days! Zenfone Max indeed makes you “live a life unplugged“. For a travel blogger like me, phone battery is always a big concern as I need to use my phone constantly for calling, camera, work etc. Also, using phone with 3G or 4G, often eats up the battery faster. But with Zenfone Max, when fully charged, it provides 914 hours of standby time or 37 hours of 3G talk time or 32 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing or 72 hours of music playback or 22 hours of video playback.
The OTG cable which comes along with the phone makes it possible to turn the phone itself into a charger to power up other devices. OTG cable also has a USB port. So, Zenfone Max acts like a power bank too, now that’s innovative! It has this huge battery of size 5000 mAh which makes the phone a bit heavier but who cares if its giving such a long battery life.
Asus has upped the processor now Zenfone Max comes with the 1.5 Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor which enables a more smoother multitasking experience. It runs on the latest Android OS, Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. Although, I am not much of a gaming person but for those who are addicted to play games on phone can expect awesome and faster gaming experience.
I always look out for the camera first in a phone. And I am impressed with Zenfone Max camera. It has a rear camera of 13 MP and a 5 MP front camera with dual LED flash. I liked clicking pictures using its low light mode. It captures the finest details and the pictures look more bright and lively. With the laser auto-focus, clicking pictures on a go is a lot more fun now, it captures the image in 0.03 seconds.
So, I would sum it up as a great phone for those who have to travel a lot for work as one need not worry about running out of battery. Its battery life is its most promising feature and makes it stand apart from rest of its competitors like – Xiaomi Redmi note 3, Gionee Marathon M5 Lite and Lenovo Vibe K4 Note. It looks great with its fresh eye-popping colors and leather grip design. It runs of latest Android version and a good value for money makes it a good buy.
